Status
Deceased. Executed in 2001.
Identification
- Name: Timothy McVeigh
- Nationality: American
- Role: Perpetrator of the Oklahoma City bombing
- Ideological category: Domestic anti-government terrorism
Background
McVeigh was a Gulf War veteran radicalised by anti-government grievances, including Waco and Ruby Ridge. On April 19, 1995, he carried out the Oklahoma City bombing, which killed 168 people.
He remains one of the clearest cases of anti-government terrorism not dependent on a foreign insurgent organisation.
Significance
For database design, McVeigh belongs in a domestic anti-state terrorist category rather than a generic extremist bucket. His case also shows the limits of hidden-mastermind mythology: the state he hated captured him quickly and secured convictions through a fast-moving investigation.
Public-source notes
This profile is drawn from the TGD actor database report and high-confidence public material referenced there, including FBI and Britannica material. The desk treats McVeigh as a deceased domestic terrorist whose case remains central to U.S. terrorism studies.
